CFD calculations were used to determine the characteristics of a compressor impeller for a given speed as the total pressure ratio versus mass flow.

For the 3D model of the impeller, rotational symmetry was used, which greatly reduces the computation time.

Nevertheless, all results can be visualized on the entire impeller.

In general, the use of CFD simulation is well suited for such problems because variations such as changes in operating conditions or changes in geometry can be analyzed very quickly.

Numerical flow simulation is an important tool for the efficiency optimization of turbomachinery.
