Front working light

Frontscheinwerfer 1
The aim of this project was to calculate the temperature distribution in a headlamp.

Very high temperatures occur in modern headlamps with high luminosity. The temperature thus represents a limit for the use of certain plastics, of which the majority of a headlamp is made.

Frontscheinwerfer 2
A section through the CFD model is shown in the reference sheet. All heat transport mechanisms (heat conduction, radiation and convection) were taken into account in the flow simulation.

Furthermore, the images in the reference sheet show the flow around the hot lamp due to natural convection as well as the temperature distribution on the diaphragm and on the spotlight.

Frontscheinwerfer 3
Based on the simulation results, a material selection corresponding to the thermal stresses could be made even before production of the first prototype.
